Large and in-charge Mercedes-Benz SUVs made a huge impact on the auto market in 2011. Yes, that's right, readers. The numbers are in, and sales for the brand's SUVs rose over 24 percent last year in comparison to the 2010 year. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, in particular, has been doing very well for itself for quite some time now. The newer, Mercedes-Benz ML class also helped the brand on its rise in sales, but the Mercedes-R Class really led the way this year, with sales increases of fifty percent.
Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing for Mercedes-Benz, speaks of the brand's growth, stating, "With the launch of our first sport utility vehicle - the G-Class - more than 30 years ago, we entered a segment in which we are now very successful with a total of five models. The SUVs today are an important pillar of Mercedes-Benz's growth and have regularly posted a new sales record in every month since July 2010."1 The German auto manufacturer was so successful last year that it sold over two million SUVs globally, with most of the sales taking place in the U.S. and China.
Have you had the pleasure of seeing the new Mercedes-Benz SUVs up close? If not, feel free to stop by Schumacher European Mercedes-Benz, located at 18530 N. Scottsdale Road Phoenix, AZ 85054, and test drive the SUV of your dreams today.
